Fargo, N.D., trucking firm Lewis Transportation, which has employees in at least seven states, is shutting down after 43 years of operation, the Associated Press reported.A spokesman for the company said late last week the closing was effective immediately and would leave 275 employees out of work, but declined to give further details, AP reported.The company owns about 40 trucks and also leases about 40, and owns about 100 trailers and leases 100, according to American Trucking Associations’ fleet directory.The company was founded in Lisbon, N.D., by Robert Lewis Sr., AP reported. Its headquarters moved to Fargo in the early 1980s.The company had 16 terminals in Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota, and employees in Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska and Missouri, AP said.
