Schneider, for the seventh year in a row, has been chosen by Freightliner to receive the 2017 edition of Ride of Pride, a truck series that honors past and present members of the U.S. military.

Schneider ranks No. 7 on the Transport Topics Top 100 List of the largest For-Hire Carriers in the U.S. and Canada. It has also been independently ranked as the top military-friendly employer in the trucking industry. More than 28% of Schneider’s drivers are retired or active military personnel.

Among these former military drivers is David Price, a Navy Reserves veteran and this year’s Ride of Pride driver. Price is a Fort Worth, Texas, native who entered the military in 2003, inspired to serve after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. He will spend the next year hauling freight and traveling around the U.S. to military-themed events. “I look forward to meeting all my other brothers and sisters from the military and their families throughout the year and sharing this special truck with them,” Price said.

According to Rob Reich, Schneider senior vice president of equipment, maintenance and driver recruiting, the company “couldn’t be more proud to have David Price and this year’s beautifully decorated Ride of Pride to showcase Schneider’s military support.”

The Ride of Pride truck made its public debut on Memorial Day Weekend at Rolling Thunder, a Washington, D.C., motorcycle demonstration in support of America’s veterans, POWs and MIAs. It is detailed with memorials such as Arlington Cemetery, the Vietnam Memorial and the World War II memorial.

Schneider has been presented with U.S. Ride of Pride trucks in 2007, 2008, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017, as well as two Canadian Ride of Pride trucks in 2011 and 2015. Freightliner’s Ride of Pride began over 15 year ago when a company manager and Vietnam War veteran suggested the project as a way to honor the U.S. military. Steve Mignardi, director of national accounts for Daimler Trucks North America, says that Freightliner Trucks is “thrilled to be able to share in this long-standing tradition with an important customer like Schneider.”
