Navistar Wins Armored Truck Upgrade Work

Navistar Defense LLC said it received a $21 million contract from the U.S. Army for more work connected to a January order to upgrade 2,717 MaxxPro Mine-Resistant Ambush-Protected vehicles.

“This chassis enhancement includes the addition of the DXM independent suspension, a Maxx-Force 9.3 [-liter] engine, 570 amp alternator and driveline, while leaving a residual chassis with a beam axle that can be reused,” Navistar Defense said.

The company said the retrofits will be done in West Point, Miss., and work is expected to be completed by the end of May this year.

Navistar Defense is a division of truck and engine maker Navistar Inc. Lisle, Ill.
