Navistar Unveils Commercial Trucks for Indian Market

Navistar Inc. said Wednesday it has unveiled new commercial trucks for the Indian market.

At the 10th India Auto Expo in Delhi, Mahindra-Navistar Automotives Ltd., the commercial vehicle joint venture between India’s Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. and Navistar, unveiled a family of commercial trucks and tractors in the range of 25-, 31- , 40- and 49- tons, the equivalent ranges of 56,000 to 109,000 pounds.

The two firms entered into a partnership in 2005 to make light, medium and heavy commercial vehicles for India as well as export markets.

Separately, a Volvo AB official said that company plans to boost its truck sales in India this year by 20%, Bloomberg reported.



Volvo sold 1,000 units in India last year, Somnath Bhattacherjee, its Indian president for trucks, told reporters in New Delhi, Bloomberg said.
