Navistar Acquires EGR Valve Technology

Navistar Inc. said Tuesday it has acquired some assets from Holley Performance Products, including intellectual property rights for valve technology used on exhaust gas recirculation systems.

Navistar will use the valve technology in its MaxxForce commercial diesel engines, which use EGR technology to meet the Environmental Protection Agency's 2010 emissions standards.

The valve allows increased air flow in the EGR system, Navistar said, which reduces combustion temperatures.

Pure Power Technologies, a Navistar subsidiary, will manufacture the valve at its Blythewood, S.C., plant, Navistar said.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
