National Retail Systems Deploys Clean Trucks to Calif. Ports

National Retail Systems has deployed 115 trucks to comply with the Clean Truck Program requirements set forth by the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, the company said Tuesday.

The trucks were purchased and deployed to avoid the $70 fee collected per container entering or leaving the ports on trucks not compliant with the EPA 2007 standards, NRS said.

Shippers would have to pay the fee starting Wednesday. NRS began using the trucks to save money for its shippers, mainly in the retail sector.

National Retail Systems, North Bergen, N.J., is a third-party logistics company.
