National ELD Mandate Education Tour Set

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration is conducting an electronic logging device national tour to help educate commercial motor carriers about the ELD rule that goes into effect later this year.

In a July 10 announcement, the agency said subject matter experts will lead driver-focused presentations and panel discussions on ELD implementation in several cities. The agency also will have FMCSA staff at an exhibit booth who will answer questions, provide consumer-friendly resources and materials, and review drivers’ and carriers’ responsibilities.

The ELD rule, which will be enforced beginning on Dec. 18, requires all interstate carriers to convert from paper logs or logging software to a registered ELD if they do not have an automatic on-board recording device.

FMCSA’s ELD Implementation National Tour dates and locations are as follows:

• July 13-15 — Iowa 80 Truckstop Jamboree (Walcott, Iowa)
