ORLANDO, Fla. — Commercial Motor Carrier insurer Acuity has expanded operations to Texas, the company announced at a press conference at American Trucking Associations’ Management Conference & Exhibition on Oct. 21.

The Sheboygan, Wisc.-based insurer writes a wide variety of coverages tailored to truckers, including commercial cargo, workers compensation, general liability and property, said Cliff Johnson, a trucking specialist for Acuity.

“From the thousand-unit fleet to the single truck operation, every motor carrier faces challenges in striving to remain compliant with the seemingly never-ending wave of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations,” Johnson said.

Johnson said the company’s “Motor Carrier Toolbox” is designed to assist motor carriers in the area of human resources, safety, compliance and CSA scores.

Johnson said the typical company customers are regional carriers that carry freight no farther than 600 miles.

“Texas is a big step for us,” Johnson said. “We’re in 26 states now.”

“We have the financial strength, national reputation, and technological leadership that have helped make us a trusted partner of thousands of motor carriers,” Ben Salzmann, Acuity’s president, said in a statement.
