More Than 100 Truck Drivers Vote to Join Teamsters at Port of N.Y.-N.J.

More than 100 truck drivers who work for an Australian logistics firm at the Port of New York and New Jersey have voted to join the Teamsters, the union said.

The 112 workers, employed by Melbourne-based Toll Group out of its Carteret, N.J., location, include local port drivers, hostlers who move trailers within the yard and longhaul drivers.

Workers voted by a margin of nearly 70% to join Teamsters Local 469 in Hazlet, N.J., the union said.

In January, 65 Teamsters-represented drivers who work for Toll Group at the Southern California ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach reached a three-year agreement with the company.
