Midwest Storms Flood Roads, Bridges

Severe thunderstorms that dropped up to a foot of rain in the upper Midwest over the weekend washed out roads and bridges and killed five people stranded in their cars in Minnesota, the Associated Press reported.

Numerous roads and bridges were washed out and closed in Wisconsin, including State Highway 35, AP said, citing local officials.

Floodwaters trapped two people in their vehicle near Stockton, Minn., and three more people in a vehicle near Witoka, Minn., and officials confirmed five deaths, AP reported.
