Mesilla Valley Transportation, a dry van truckload carrier based in Las Cruces, N.M., will work with Penske Truck Leasing Corp. to maintain its nationwide fleet of more than 1,300 trucks.

Its operations command center is in El Paso, Texas.

Mesilla Valley Transportation ranks No. 66 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest for-hire carriers in the United States and Canada and is the 28th largest carrier in the truckload/dedicated sector.

CEO Royal Jones said the decision will allow the company to improve productivity and driver earnings potential.

Besides preventative maintenance, Penske will provide roadside breakdown service with a guarantee of a replacement vehicle if a fix cannot be made within one hour.

“Our hope is that this added benefit will improve driver experience and satisfaction by minimizing equipment-related downtime,” Jones said in a statement May 11.

Penske is based in Reading, Pa.
