Maverick USA Inc. announced the acquisition of Flanary and Sons Trucking Inc., a Tennessee-based carrier that specializes in shipping architectural flat glass, a building product.

The acquisition adds approximately 75 tractors to the fleet of Maverick Transportation, a Little Rock, Arkansas-based carrier that offers flatbed and refrigerated services, including flat glass, with a fleet of about 1,400 trucks. Terms weren’t released for the acquisition of family-owned Flanary and Sons, known as FAST.

Maverick Transportation President Stephen Selig said in a statement that “FAST is an outstanding glass carrier that shares the same core values and desire for excellence that Maverick does.”

Maverick ranks No. 76 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest for-hire carriers in the United States and Canada.

The statement from Maverick said that three members of FAST’s management group will join Maverick, while Curtis Flanary, who founded the company in 1984, will be retiring.

“With increasing regulatory and industry challenges, we felt joining a larger company with greater resources provided the best long-term growth opportunity for FAST,” said Shon Flanary, president of the carrier, who will be transitioning to Maverick. “This acquisition will allow our employees to grow and the company to better serve the glass industry.”
