Maven Introduces ELD, Fleet Management System

Maven Machines, provider of the Maven Co-Pilot headset for driver safety, has launched its own electronic logging device and has expanded its product line into a full fleet management system.

Maven’s new Smartsense platform is designed to help trucking fleets improve safety, efficiency and regulatory compliance, including the federal ELD mandate, which goes into effect Dec. 18.

The system is built on plug-and-play hardware, Android and iOS mobile devices and real-time web portal for managers, the company said.

The new product builds on Maven’s initial product for the trucking industry — a wearable safety device that warns drivers when it detects signs of fatigue or distraction based on their head motion and mirror-check rate.

The company’s new fleet management platform expands that safety system by adding driver performance, GPS and engine data.

“We believe in a culture of transparency and automation for drivers,” CEO Avishai Geller said. “Maven’s smart headset is now one part of our intuitive driver [user interface] and differentiated fleet-management system.”

The Maven system provides real-time data on metrics such as speeding, hard braking, idling, fatigue, distraction, mirror checks and weather along with automated regulatory compliance for electronic driver logs, driver vehicle inspection reports and California labor law.

A cloud-based web portal provides fleets with prioritized information they can use to save time and money, ensure compliance and achieve safety goals.

“Maven was easy to set up for my safety staff and terminal managers and now we all share visibility to real-time telematics,” said Rhonda Yost, vice president of regulatory compliance at PGT Trucking.

Maven said its fleet management and ELD product can be deployed in five minutes with no out-of-service time for trucks.

The bundled product includes three tools for drivers: a smartphone or tablet, a Maven Co-Pilot headset or earbud and a vehicle data adapter.
