Matheson Inc., a privately held company that specializes in small parcel delivery, has hired Mark Evans as chief financial officer.

Evans previously worked at various Siemens business units, including Siemens Transportation Systems Inc., in Sacramento, Calif., as chief financial officer.

“Mark’s background includes a number of senior executive leadership positions with Siemens USA and international divisions,” CEO Mark Matheson said. “He has a depth of financial expertise in developing innovative transportation, rolling stock, passenger rail and sustainable energy [hybrid electric/diesel buses] systems and solutions. Mark’s extensive asset and supply chain management know-how are key benefits for our team.”

Matheson’s trucking division moves packages for the U.S. Postal Service and DHL, among others, on the West Coast and in the Southwest, but plans to expand operations to the East Coast, according to a company spokesman.

“I was attracted to Matheson for several reasons. It is a leading — and growing — transportation firm with a significant footprint across America in more than two dozen large urban markets,” Evans said.

As a privately held company, Matheson hasn’t released revenue figures in the past on how much for-hire business it does annually.
