Marten Reports 4Q and 2005 Income, Revenue Gains

efrigerated truckload carrier Marten Transport said late Wednesday its fourth-quarter income rose 36.6% to $7.1 million or 32 cents a share, from $5.2 million or 24 cents a year earlier.

Operating revenue rose 18.6% to $125.4 million.

The earnings reflect the carrier’s three-for-two stock split issued in December. (Click here for previous coverage.)



For the full year, Marten earned $25.1 million or $1.14 a share, up from $17.5 million or 81 cents in 2004. Operating revenue rose 21.1% to $460.2 million.

Freight revenue for the quarter, excluding fuel surcharges and non-freight revenue, rose 9% to $101.2 million. For the year it rose 11.5% to $386.1 million.

Marten is ranked No. 57 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
