March Consumer Sentiment Index Declines

U.S. consumer confidence fell this month following fuel price increases and a hitch in the stock market, according to the University of Michigan’s monthly consumer sentiment index released Friday.The preliminary index for March fell to 88.8 from 91.3 in February. The index will be revised at the end of the month.The level was below economists’ forecasts of a dip to an 89 reading, Bloomberg reported.
