Manitoulin of Toronto Buys Miami Logistics Company

Manitoulin Global Forwarding acquired Demark Global Logistics of Miami, according to a news release by Toronto-based Manitoulin.

Terms were not disclosed.

The acquisition follows the purchase of N/J International Inc. of Houston in November, part of what parent company Manitoulin Group of Cos. says is a planned expansion into the United States, strengthening coverage particularly along the Eastern Seaboard.

Manitoulin Global Forwarding is an international freight forwarder, servicing more than 220 countries and territories worldwide, according to the company. It has offices in Canada, the United States and Mexico, and an international network of agents providing global and local customized services that assist supply chain objectives.

Established in 1991, Demark Global Logistics offers logistics services including freight forwarding, customs brokerage and warehousing. Specializing in logistics for general commodities, textiles and furniture, Demark has an additional location in New Jersey and a worldwide network of agents, according to a Manitoulin news release.

“Demark is a valuable addition to Manitoulin Global Forwarding given its strategic locations in the U.S., which enhances our ability to service all parts of the United States,” Manitoulin CEO Gord Smith said. “A major benefit of this transaction for Demark’s customers is that they now have easy access to all the global supply chain solutions provided by the Manitoulin Group of Cos.”

Manitoulin also operates Manitoulin Transport, a single-source carrier, and offers expedited less-than-truckload and truckload, transborder, intermodal, private fleet, guaranteed service, heavy haul, temperature-controlled, dangerous goods and supply chain management. In North America, its distribution coverage consists of 82 Canadian terminals and 200 U.S. service centers.

Manitoulin Group of Cos. include services such as expedited, less-than-truckload or truckload, crating, customs brokerage, international freight forwarding, global time-critical delivery, residential and commercial moving, heavy haul, logistics, warehousing, projects and supply chain management.
