Maersk to Boost Fuel Surcharge

A.P. Moeller-Maersk, the world’s largest ocean shipping line, is boosting its North America to Europe rates due to higher fuel costs, Bloomberg reported Monday.

Maersk will boost its fuel surcharge to $399 from $319 on a standard 20-foot container from North America to the Mediterranean, Bloomberg said.

The charge for 40-foot containers will rise to $798 from $638, Maersk said.

The increases take effect June 1, Bloomberg reported.
