Volvo Group’s commercial truck brands Mack Trucks and Volvo Trucks North America separately announced they extended their uptime services support bundle at no cost through the end of the year, or a minimum of three months, whichever is longer.

The retroactive extension, in each case, covers customers with packages expiring from May 1 to Dec. 31.

It is part of the Greensboro, N.C.-based truck makers’ ongoing commitment to assist customers who are facing recent challenging operational conditions, and to support them as they continue to do business in the commercial trucking and logistics industry in the United States and Canada now that the economy is gradually reopening.

Included in Mack’s bundle is its GuardDog Connect telematics solution, access to its 24/7 customer support and Mack’s web-based service management program. Its over-the-air remote software updates are included, too.

At the same time, Mack announced driver-activated updates will be available in the fourth quarter. They are intended to enable customers to initiate onboard updates through the vehicle instrument cluster whenever and wherever is most convenient for them.

VTNA noted the coverage on 20,000 VINs will be automatically and seamlessly extended, so that no customer action or in-person contact is required.

VTNA’s uptime services bundle includes: remote diagnostics, digital access to dealers for electronic estimates, repair orders and approvals, 24/7 roadside support with access to its experts and remote programming updates enabling direct connectivity using its telematics platform — available on model-year 2018 trucks and newer. — Transport Topics
