'Love Bug' Virus Bites Trucking

Ah, spring. Love is in the air … er … e-mail.

The “Love Bug” virus was out trolling for lovesick victims starting on May 3, clogging e-mail systems and leaving broken-hearted hard drives in its wake around the globe. Enticing recipients with the winsome lure of a “A Love Letter for You” — who could resist such a tender message?

Apparently many didn’t.

The transportation industry’s experience mirrored that of thousands of businesses victimized worldwide: Some escaped unscathed, while others succumbed to the e-mail’s charms with lost files and the need to restore computer systems.
