Letter to the Editor: Toll Strategy

tend not to accept loads that require me to pay tolls to make delivery. I try to avoid states that have tolls.

I am paid a percentage of the load and tolls come out of my profit, and most loads do not pay additional revenue to compensate for these tolls.

I live west of Chicago and refuse to take a load with a pickup in the Chicago area just because of the tolls that I would have to absorb.

Besides, the toll roads in Chicago create traffic tie-ups that also waste fuel.
