Leading Economic Indicators Show Improvement

An index of leading economic indicators rose 0.4% in May, the New York-based Conference Board said Thursday.

The LEI index’s increase followed a revised no change in April that had originally been reported as a 0.1% decline.

It was the 13th increase in 14 months and was within economists’ estimates, Bloomberg reported.

The LEI is closely watched by trucking companies because it forecasts business activity for the next three to six months.
