Leading Economic Indicators Jump in December

An index of leading economic indicators increased in December, the six consecutive monthly increase, the New York-based Conference Board said Thursday.

The 1% increase for followed November’s revised 1.1% gain. It exceeded economists’ forecasts of a 0.6% rise, Bloomberg reported.

The LEI is closely watched by trucking companies because it forecasts business activity for the next three to six months.
