Knight Transportation’s Third-Quarter Revenue, Earnings Increase

ruckload carrier Knight Transportation reported Thursday its third-quarter net income increased 22% to $18.9 million or 22 cents a share, from $15.5 million or 18 cents in 2005.

img src="/top100/logos/Knight.gif" width=100 align=right>Revenue rose 19.5% to $174.7 million, from $146.2 million a year earlier, the company said in a statement.

The company’s operating ratio in the third quarter was 79.1%, said Kevin Knight, the carrier’s chief executive officer.



“Revenue growth continued during the quarter and was driven by a combination of fleet expansion and increased revenue per mile,” said Knight.

Knight is ranked No. 40 on the Transport Topics 100 list of the largest U.S. and Canadian trucking companies.
