Knight Creates Refrigerated Truckload Subsidiary
Knight Transportation Inc. said late Thursday it had created a new subsidiary called Knight Refrigerated that is scheduled to begin operations in the third quarter of 2004.
"The temperature-controlled operation will be based in Phoenix and is expected initially to consist of approximately 50 tractors," Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Kevin Knight said in a statement. "We believe the temperature-controlled market offers an opportunity to augment our services in a market with many large, stable shippers, and it also allows us to expand our growth opportunities."Knight is ranked No. 59 on the Transport Topics 100 list of the largest U.S. and Canadian trucking companies.
