Volume at the neighboring Southern California ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles was mixed in June, with Long Beach’s rising slightly and Los Angeles’ declining.

Long Beach volume rose 1.8% from a year ago to 565,476 20-foot equivalent units, with imports up 3.5% to 290,448 TEUs and exports edging up 0.1% to 133,800 TEUs.

Total TEUs are up 14.2% for the year compared with the same period last year, with inbound containers up 16.2%.

June container volume at Los Angeles declined 7.2%, due in part to a vessel service that shifted out of the port.

Loaded containers fell 9.8%, with inbound volume down 7.2% to 328,325 TEUs and outbound dropping 15% to 174,418 TEUs.

Through June, year-to-date volume is down 5% from a year ago, the port said.

The two facilities make up the largest U.S. port complex.
