Jobless Claims for Week Fall to Four-Month Low

he number of Americans filing first-time unemployment claims dropped to a four-month low of 295,000, the Labor Department said Thursday.

The 8,000-decline was below economists’ forecast of a rise to 320,000 new claims, Bloomberg reported.

The four-week moving average of claims, a less volatile measure, fell to 315,750 from 328,000 a week earlier.



Continuing jobless claims for the previous week ended June 3 rose to 2.425 million from 2.41 million a week earlier.
