Jobless Claims Rise for Week from Four-Month Low

he number of Americans filing first-time unemployment claims rose from a four-month low last week, the Labor Department said Thursday.

The 11,000 increase to 308,000 new claims slightly topped economists’ forecast of a rise to 306,000, Bloomberg reported.

The four-week moving average of claims, a less volatile measure, fell to 311,250 from 316,250 a week earlier.
