Jobless Claims Rise for Week

he number of U.S. workers filing initial unemployment claims rose by 11,000 to 315,000 last week, the Labor Department said Thursday.

The level exceeded economists’ forecast of a rise to 305,000, Bloomberg reported.

The four-week moving average of claims, a less volatile measure, rose to 308,500.



Continuing jobless claims for the previous week ended April 15 rose to 2.449 million from 2.432 million.
