Jobless Claims Rise 10,000 for Week

Initial jobless claims rose by 10,000 last week at 324,000, the Labor Department said Thursday.

Economists had forecast no change from the previous week, Bloomberg reported.

The less-volatile four-week moving average rose to 314,500.

The number of people continuing to collect benefits fell to 2.523 million for the previous week ended June 9, from 2.484 million a week earlier, Labor reported.
