Jobless Claims Fall by 1,000 for Week

he number of Americans filing first-time unemployment claims fell by 1,000 last week to 324,000 last week, the Labor Department said Thursday.

The claims level was above economists’ forecast of a decline to 315,000 claims, Bloomberg reported.

The four-week moving average of claims, a less volatile measure, rose to 317,250, from 314,750 a week earlier.
