J.B. Hunt’s Fourth-Quarter Income Declines

Truckload carrier J.B. Hunt Transport Services said Thursday its fourth-quarter net income fell to $53.3 million, or 41 cents a share, from $54.3 million, or 42 cents, a year ago.

Revenue declined 7% to $880 million, while operating income dropped 6.9% to $879.8 million, the company said in a statement.

Trucking segment operating income rose 14.2% to a $4.4 million loss, while revenue fell 34.5% to $128.9 million.

Intermodal segment operating income fell 19.5% to $62 million, while revenue decline 1.1% to $487.5 million.



For the full 2008, net income decreased to $200.6 million, or $1.56 a share, from $213.1 million, or $1.55 per share, in 2007.

Revenue for the year increased 6.5% to $3.7 billion, and operating income fell 2.8% to $358.4 million, from $368.8 million the year before.
