J.B. Hunt’s 4Q Income Rises 25%

J.B. Hunt Transport Services’ fourth-quarter profit rose 25% on higher freight income from its trucking and intermodal businesses.

Net income rose to $72.6 million, or 61 cents per share, from $52.2 million, or 41 cents, a year ago.

The trucking, logistics and intermodal company’s revenue rose to $1.2 billion, from $1.02 billion.

Trucking unit operating revenue jumped 61% to $7.1 million, while revenue rose 8% to $128 million.



Intermodal operating income jumped 24% to $83.9 million, while revenue rose 24% to $729 million.

Dedicated contract services operating income rose 40% to $27.4 million, while revenue rose 9% to $260 million.

For the year, the company earned $257 million, $2.11 or per share, from $199.6 million, or $1.56. Revenue rose to $4.5 billion, from $3.8 billion.
