UniGroup, the parent company of United Van Lines, Mayflower Transit and other transportation related companies, announced that its president, James Powers, resigned his position to pursue other personal interests.

Chief Financial Officer Brent Stottlemyre — who has been in that position since 2015 — was appointed acting president March 27 as the company begins the process of finding Powers’ replacement as soon as possible, according to the company.

Unigroup ranks No. 17 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.

“We thank Jim for his many years of service to UniGroup and wish him all the best in his future endeavors. In the interim, we have full confidence that Brent and the management team will guide our enterprise forward during this transition period,” H. Daniel McCollister, chairman of UniGroup's board, said in a statement.

UniGroup is a $1.7 billion transportation and relocation services company based in St. Louis.
