nternational Truck and Engine Corp. and the leadership of the United Auto Workers union said Wednesday they have reached tentative agreement on a new four-year labor contract.
The agreement is subject to ratification vote by the UAW membership, set to take place Thursday. No details will be announced pending ratification of the deal, Navistar said in a statement.
International Truck and Engine is the operating company of Navistar International Corp. Negotiations on a new labor agreement began in April. The existing contract expires in October 2007.
The UAW represents about 4,000 employees in manufacturing plants in Indianapolis, Melrose Park, Ill., and Springfield, Ohio; parts distribution centers in Atlanta, Dallas and York, Pa.; and at the truck technical center in Fort Wayne, Ind.
Navistar’s total worldwide employment at International is 17,500, of which 13,500 work in the United States and Canada.
