Intermodal Volumes Fall for Week

Overall rail freight volumes rose for the week ended July 19, but intermodal traffic declined from year-ago levels, the Association of American Railroads said.

Intermodal traffic declined 2.4% to 233,516 containers and trailers, AAR said in its weekly report. Container volumes fell 3.3%, while trailer volumes rose 1.1%.

Overall rail traffic rose 2.3% to 328,634 carloads as shipments of coal and grain increased, the group said.
