Initial Jobless Claims Drop 2,000 for Week

irst-time unemployment claims fell by 2,000 to 313,000 last week, the Labor Department reported Thursday.

The level was slightly below economists’ forecast of a rise to 315,000, Bloomberg reported.

The four-week moving average of claims, a less volatile measure, fell to 308,500 from 306,000 a week earlier.
