Industrial Production Rises 0.8% in June

.S. industrial production rose 0.8% in June, the Federal Reserve said Monday.

The production increase at factories, mines and utilities followed a followed a 0.1% gain in May that had been originally reported as a 0.1% drop, the Fed said.

The decline exceeded economists’ forecasts of a 0.5% gain, Bloomberg reported.



Manufacturing, which accounts for about 90% of the index, rose 0.7% following a revised 0.1% gain in May. The factory sector is one of trucking’s largest and most important cus-tomers.

The share of industrial capacity in use rose to 82.4% from 81.8%.
