I-15 Partially Reopened; Truckers Traveling North Still Detoured

Interstate 15 in southern Nevada is partially reopened, but heavy trucks traveling northbound into Utah are still being detoured off the highway that was severely damaged by a flash flood on Sept. 8.

One southbound and one northbound lane were reopened late Friday on the interstate.

Trucks with a gross weight over 26,000 pounds, however, must take U.S. 93 north, which runs from Las Vegas. At the junction of Nevada State Route 319, trucks must run east across the Utah state line to connect with Utah State Route 56.

That will take them to Cedar City, Utah, where truckers can reconnect with I-15.

Back in southern Nevada, between the towns of Glendale and Mesquite, crews are working to get all the lanes reopened, perhaps, by Sept. 22, Nevada officials said.
