Hub Group’s 1Q Profit Improves

Third-party logistics company and freight broker Hub Group’s first-quarter profit rose to $13.1 million, or 35 cents per share, from $11.5 million, or 29 cents, a year earlier.

Revenue rose 8.1% to $425 million, the company said late Thursday.

Intermodal revenue rose 5.2% to $302.8 million, truck brokerage revenue gained 19.9% to $89.9 million and logistics revenue rose 6.1% to $32.3 million, the company said.

Hub Group said its 2008 earnings would be $1.58 to $1.70 per share, up from a previous forecast of $1.50 and $1.62 per share.
