Hoffa To Appear at GOP, Democratic Conventions

Teamsters President James P. Hoffa will be a delegate to the Democratic National Convention that kicks off in Los Angeles on Aug. 13, about two weeks after he makes an appearance at the Republican National Convention in Philadelphia.

Hoffa will be a delegate from Michigan at the DNC, said Robb Black, Teamsters spokesman.

Before then, the president of the 1.5 million member union will “walk the floor in Philadelphia” where the GOP Convention will be held, said Black. Hoffa will also be honored at one dinner, appearing with Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge, a Republican.

Hoffa’s presence in a tightly contested race is welcomed by both parties, but nothing more should be read into it, said Black.
