Heartland Express Promotes Michael Gerdin to President

ruckload carrier Heartland Express said Thursday it promoted Michael Gerdin to become its president.

Russell Gerdin, who has been Heartland’s president since 1978, will continue to serve as the company’s chairman and chief executive officer.

Michael Gerdin was elected to the company’s board of directors in 1996. From 1998 to 2001 he was president of Heartland unit A&M Express, Kingsport, Tenn.



In 2001, Michael Gerdin was appointed vice president of regional operations, which represents about 65% of the company's revenue base.

Heartland Express is ranked No. 46 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of the U.S. and Canadian for-hire trucking companies.
