Truckers for Heartland Express will soon be enjoying about a 2-cent-a-mile increase in pay.
The nationwide truckload carrier based in Coralville, Iowa, announced the raises for company drivers, effective March 18.
Long-haul truckers with one year of experience under their belts will receive 36 cents a mile under the revised scale. Those big rig operators with seven years behind the wheel are entitled to 39 cents, plus a 1-cent safety bonus. The previous pay rates were 33.5 cents and 38 cents, respectively.
