Truckload carrier Heartland Express said Monday its second-quarter profit slipped to $16.7 million, or 18 cents a share, from $17.6 million, or 19 cents, a year ago.

Revenue rose 8.9% to $127.4 million, the company said in a statement.

The per-share earnings fell 3 cents due to a decrease in property gains and higher depreciation of tractors purchased last year.

Heartland Express is ranked No. 47 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire trucking companies.
