Hearing to Come on Calif. Emissions Waiver

The Environmental Protection Agency will hold a public hearing March 5 on a 2007 decision to deny California a waiver allowing the state to implement its own greenhouse gas emission standards for automobiles and light trucks.

President Obama, who vowed to rescind the waiver decision during his campaign, requested that EPA revisit the waiver denial in a Jan. 26 presidential memorandum. EPA officials, who have said they will make their decision based on science and the “rule of law,” will accept written comments on the waiver decision through April 6.

Those wishing to testify should notify the agency by March 2 and can e-mail: Dickinson.David@epa.gov.
