Hauler’s Side Jobs Evolve Into New Line of Business

Ken Gold had no way of knowing in 1986 when he started hauling sand and gravel that a few side jobs transporting motorcycles for friends would evolve into successful operation of GoldRush Motorsports, a specialized trucking fleet for racing.

Apparently racing has a lot more glamour, if not the same amount of dust, as the sand and gravel business.

“I’m lucky enough to combine my passion for motorcycles and race cars into my profession, which is truck driving,” said Gold.

“A few years ago, some friends asked me if I’d haul their motorcycles down to Florida for Daytona Bike Week — a huge event for motorcycle fans. After that, there was another event, so I moved their bikes to that show as well."
