GM, Ford Report Declines In July Car, Truck Sales

eneral Motors Corp. and Ford Motor Co. each said Tuesday their July vehicle sales fell sharply from last year, with the biggest declines in trucks and sport utility vehicles, the Associated Press reported.

GM said its sales fell 22.2%, with trucks falling 31.2% and cars dipping 2.7%, AP said.

At Ford, sales of Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles dropped 35.2% from a year earlier as truck sales dove 44.8%, while cars slipped 6.7%.



Sales of F-Series pickup trucks, long the country's best-selling vehicle and the company's most important vehicle, fell 45.6%, AP reported.
