he global truck leasing market generated a total of $17.7 billion in revenue in 2005, according to a study published Tuesday by Research and Markets.

The 2005 value is a 3.8% increase from the previous year and represents a compound annual growth rate of 4.6% for the period spanning 2001-2005, Research and Markets said.

The study finds that deregulation in such markets as China, Italy and Spain led carriers to expanded operations, which contributed to the increase in global revenue.

Research and Markets defines the truck leasing market as all operational leasing agreements with terms longer than one year. The study includes only trucks of 3.51 tons gross vehicular weight or above.
