hattahoochee Bay Railroad, a newly formed subsidiary of rail carrier Genesee and Wyoming Inc., has acquired the assets of the Chattahoochee and Gulf Railroad Co. and the H&S Railroad Co., GWI said Wednesday in a release.

GWI paid $6 million for the combined assets of the two companies, both of which are affiliates of Gulf & Ohio Railways.

The two rail lines, which run contiguously on 29 miles of track between Hilton, Ga., Dothan, Ala., and Taylor, Ala., link GWI's Bay Line Railroad and Chattahoochee Industrial Railroad.
