GE Acquires Trailer-Tracking Firm Terion

General Electric Co. unit GE Equipment Services said Thursday it acquired trailer-tracking technology firm Terion Inc.Terion is privately held, and terms of the deal were not disclosed.GE said it will integrate Terion into its asset intelligence division, which provides trailer-tracking technology.Terion was one of the first companies to market untethered trailer-tracking systems. The merged company's customers for that service include Wal-Mart and the U.S. Postal Service from the GE side, and J.B. Hunt Transport Services and Knight Transportation from the Terion side, GE said.GE and Terion will coordinate operations but continue to operate separately over the next several months while the two businesses develop and implement integration plans, GE said.
